God created all things for His own glory, and the ultimate purpose of all things is the glory of God – including the family. Thus, the family does not exist for its own benefit, but to bring honor and glory to God. Knowing God in all His fullness and glory is the ultimate treasure!
If we desire to give this treasure to our children, we must build our families on Jesus, who reveals the Father perfectly. If He is truly Lord, then our families will succeed. If we embrace His will instead of our own, if we submit to His pattern and structure, if His glory is our purpose, then we will succeed in marriage and in family life.
However, in our present-day warp-speed culture, how do we find the time to bring our families to Jesus? As parents, God has given us instructions on how to raise our children in Him:
“Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” Deuteronomy (6:5-7)
The purpose of this little devotional booklet is to take advantage of times throughout your day – when you sit at home, when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up – to build your family in Christ.
