The biblical writers never attempt to explain this. Rather, they simply state it as a reality. We can understand many things about God, but this is not one of them. And this makes sense that we, finite and created beings, wouldn’t fully understand our infinite, Creator God!

This is the eternal nature of God. God is fellowship. God is love; He is self-giving love. And love must have an object. Thus, in order for God to be love before the creation of the world, He had to be triune!
